The Coordinating Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI) was established on February 1, 2013 as mandated by the cabinet decision of September 9, 2011 with the specific aim of coordination and monitoring of Science, Technology and Innovation activities in the country.
Our Mission
Our Objectives
To ensure proper coordination among line ministries within overall budgetary framework, and also with the private sector, it is expected to appoint a Committee of Officials comprising of Secretaries to HE the President, the Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Ministers including the Ministry of Finance and Planning and Science Technology and Research.
To facilitate the above the Coordinating Secretariat for Science, Technology & Innovation (COSTI) was established on 1st Feb 2013.
COSTI's main objectives are:
Our research community consists of all the Sri Lankan scientists. It is a diverse network of interacting scientists which include many sub-communities working on particular scientific fields, and within particular institutions; interdisciplinary and cross-institutional activities.
In order for Sri Lankan industries to remain competitive in the local and global markets they have to continuously innovate.
It is proposed to develop a network of science/ research parks as public-private partnerships in Sri Lanka in a phased out programme to ensure weath creation through out innovative and knowledge creating capabilities.
