The Coordinating Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI) was established on February 1, 2013 as mandated by the cabinet decision of September 9, 2011 with the specific aim of coordination and monitoring of Science,
Saumya Senavirathna obtained her Bachelor’s degree from University of Ruhuna specializing in Agriculture Economics in 2007. Immediately after graduation she started working as an executive officer in Keagnam Enterprises Ltd with her part qualification in CIMA. In 2011, turning her carrier in to a new dimension she started working as a research assistant in Aquatic ecology laboratory, Saitama University Japan in the field of application of Genome profiling for classification of closely related aquatic insect species in Asia. She completed her masters in early 2014, in the field of Environment science and technology from Saitama University, Japan with a full term scholarship from Kubota fund. She has participated in several international conferences and published articles in several peer reviewed international journals. She joined COSTI in Nov ember 2014. At COSTI she is mainly responsible for Science, Technology and Innovation interventions in the fields of climate change and Skill development.
